It is defiantly beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at the hotel.  Today we were lucky enough to have students from the elementary school come and decorate our front doors.  Looking in from the outside you get a sense of holiday cheer right away.

"Frosty the Snowman" is a popular song written by Walter "Jack" Rollins and Steve Nelson, and first recorded by Gene Autry and the Cass County Boys in 1950”, quoted from Wikipedia.  This along with Rudolph just may be one of my favorite memories from when I was a kid.  What are some of your favorite holiday memories?

Welcome Back!

So it has been a very busy Summer and Fall and we have fallen behind in my blogging.  So as we give this a try again I hope that you will continue to follow us again.  I have been reading many articles on Social Media and the best advice I have read is that it isn’t a sprint it is a marathon.  With that being said, how is everyone doing?  We had a busy summer, which is always fantastic; the weather up here was wonderful and the summer started early and just kept on going.

Finally today as I blasted the heat to defrost my windshield I finally acknowledged that winter is here and with that looking into winter programs for the hotel.  Updates will be coming but if anyone has any ideas of specials or specific programs they would like us to run this winter let me know.  We will also be giving fun and helpful travel hints on the blog so stay tuned for that as well.  Hope everyone has a great day and stay warm because “Baby its cold outside” J

This weekend is Winterfest in Ticonderoga!! Even though there isn’t a lot of snow, we are still going to have skating and sleigh rides of some sort.  It should be a great day, chilly but the sun is supposed to be shinning!!  Winter festivals are going around all over the area, Lake George hosts events every weekend for a month and Saranac Lake has the ice castle J  Check out the pictures below…what type of things do your hometowns do to get people out and enjoying the seasons?

Snow

As the snowplows swished by my house this morning, excitement raced through my veins.  Did we finally get hit with a snowstorm, could I snowshoe this weekend?  Sadly the answer to all of those was no, we got a couple of inches which although disappointing is still enough to cover the ground and give the appearance of winter J
What is your favorite thing about winter?  For me it is the way the air is crisp and when you walk outside the cold catches your breath and makes your cheeks rosy.  I love making tea and watching the snow fall on a weekend morning and making a big pot of soup or chili.  One of my favorite soups to make is Italian wedding soup…here is a recipe, if you have a favorite recipe post it below…have a great day!!

Material Matters

This weekend Fort Ticonderoga is hosting a workshop series called Material Matters.  The content of their weekend is on everything from buttons and buckles to the “culture of military uniforms”.  It looks to be a quite interesting and informative weekend for all those attending.
I personally like the name of the workshop and the variety of connotations that can be derived from it.   I make sure that when packages are written, a deal discussed, and leaps of faith for relationships both personal and professional; that the material presented is on point.  It makes a difference when research is done to ensure people have the tools needed to enjoy their vacation when they stay with us and purchase a package; when presenting a living social deal, the material or offers available to the guests coming in will properly showcase the region and how great it is, without honestly costing a fortune.
Material matters so people enjoy their stay, the area, and the content of anything we put forward here.  It is also matters to help keep personal relationships fresh and going, in sealing business deals, and building strong and reciprocal relationships that exercise the mind and heart.
So when thinking about life and your daily interactions remember that Material Matters.

Football

Today on our facebook page, our trivia question deal with football.  I honestly have never been a huge football fan until a couple of years ago; not really understanding the plays and flags and such, made it kind of difficult to fall in love with the sport.  Also my parents were never huge fans so it wasn’t something on in our household every week.  Nowadays I love to listen to it while I whip up a big Sunday dinner, or while going to the Grill for a mug of beer with friends.  I found by listening,  asking questions and paying attention to what is going on, I have a basic understanding therefore have turned into a fan of football.  I don’t know whether it is the excitement of watching a player make an incredible catch or watching them run as fast as they can while people lung at them to try to knock them down, but it is fun and something I now look forward to.  What do you like most about football?  Also this past Sunday was a great game between the Giants and the 49’s, what was your favorite part?

Happy Monday

It is a crisp 34 degrees out today, not too much snow which is extremely unusual for this time of year.  It is funny we are always complaining about what we don’t have, whether in our personal lives or professional.  If we don’t have snow we want it, if it is hot we want it cooler; the one constant complaint for myself is rain.  I don’t like the rain either in the spring or at all now when it should be snow.  The rain is making it impossible for our snowshoer’s as well as all other winter activities up here.  So to quote the children’s song- “Rain Rain go away, come again another day”.
On a side note; make sure to keep an eye on our facebook page for the next Trivia Tuesday question and your chance to win a great prize…Have a great Monday everyone!!
